Upcycle Designer Lab
Upcycle Designer Lab™ is a creative incubator designed to support designers as they develop upcycled and sustainable fashion collections rooted in circular design, material innovation, and environmental responsibility. Developed by the Sizzle Arts Foundation, the Lab provides a structured yet experimental space where designers can explore new approaches to fashion without the constraints of traditional production models.
The program recognizes that sustainable fashion requires both creativity and technical knowledge. Through guided learning, access to materials, and mentorship, Upcycle Designer Lab™ supports designers in transforming reclaimed garments and textiles into thoughtfully constructed, contemporary designs that address textile waste and climate impact.
What the Lab Offers
Upcycle Designer Lab™ functions as a hands-on development environment where designers strengthen both creative vision and sustainable practice. The Lab supports designers through:
-
Workshops focused on textile reuse, reconstruction, and circular design
-
Access to reclaimed, thrifted, or donated materials for experimentation
-
Guidance on sustainable construction and responsible design processes
-
Opportunities to prototype and refine upcycled fashion concepts
-
Creative feedback and peer exchange within a supportive cohort
The Lab emphasizes learning through making—encouraging designers to test ideas, take creative risks, and develop sustainable solutions through practice.
